Q. How do you stay current and up to date within your specialised sectors?
A. We like to become as expert as possible within the areas we work in, not only so that we can offer our clients the best possible service, but also so that we are aware of particular individuals within our sector. Networking is key within our business and therefore we like to attend many events, conferences, talks and lectures within our specific verticals. If somebody good is on the market, we will be the first to know about it!
Q. Is
search consulting not more expensive than using a recruitment firm with more traditional methods?
A. Historically, yes, this would be the case. However, we are now able to offer a search consultancy based on competitive market rate recruitment terms. This is because we believe that Search consulting is a far more effective way of finding top quality candidates in a shorter amount of time. We will help organisations look for placements running from Junior right through to senior level (junior level placements are for Sales Executives only). This is very unusual for ‘headhunting’ firms.
Q. Why would we use a search consultant when there are so many traditional recruitment firms out there?
A. People who are often on the job market and can be found on the job boards are very often not the best candidates available. Companies tend to look after their top employees and as a result do not like to let them go easily. Because of this we feel in order to get the best for our Clients, we need to approach the top professionals within our fields and give them the opportunity to ‘look over the fence’ at what may be available. By search consulting we are also not gambling that we may stumble across a suitable candidate. We do a lot of market research into each project and directly target specific individuals that we know will have the suitable experience and track records for our vacancies.
Q. We are concerned as to the nature of headhunting and it is a very sensitive process for us. We are worried about our reputation.
A. At Search Independent we totally understand that search consulting is a very sensitive and delicate process and we handle all of our projects with upmost care and confidentiality. We also would like to note that as we are a more service based business, we are more interested in making good introductions, putting people in front of people, as opposed to aggressively just trying to ‘close the deal’.
